Galaxy by Loulin Galaxy by Loulin
August 2010

I seem to be a bit reluctant to leave outer space. I wanted to have a go at painting a whole galaxy as well before moving on. It turned out a lot more colourful than first intended but that’s ok, it looks fine anyway. :) A nice little challenge.

Acrylics on cotton canvas. 46x38 cm / 19x16 in. About a week’s worth of effort in total I think.

I think this is beautiful; your color choices are vibrant and exciting against the rich black of space.

Thank you very much. It's not perhaps my best work but people seem to like it sure enough. I'm glad it could make an impression on you.

Thank you very much, but you're talented too. I like the colour intensity of your paintings. Particulary the sunflowers, I liked that one.

Also thanks for the :+fav: Very nice of you.

The thing I notice the most in your galaxy, that most of the other galaxy paintings here lack, is the juxtaposition between that deep red and soft blue.

You'd think the red and blue would clash horribly but for some reason it works anyway. It wasn't really intended to look the way it does but the outcome is still satisfying.

Thanks for the :+fav:

I think it does clash, in a way, but that adds dimension. Galaxies without any significant contrast look flat. I for one am glad your artwork evolved since it left your mind.

Many thanks for your kind words. Hope I "get it wrong" again sometime, I might be pleasantly surprised.

Well, you'd only "get it wrong" if you think if the version in your head as the "right one".

Tack så mycket. Det var mycket med målningen som inte blev som jag hade tänkt mig och ändå blev det okej i slutändan. Så det är kul att du gillade den. :)
